When I saw the price, free shipping, and factory pre-seasoned, this Dutch oven proved irresistible. The format is great and the color black was attractive.Sadly, the factory pre-seasoning did not meet expectations! I learned to cook using cast iron, and I still own several "original finish" cast iron frying pans, ceramic dishes and pans (tri-ply stainless steel is wonderful, but some things just cook more evenly with the iron). While the cast is not difficult season, it was just an added bonus of ordering a Dutch oven that I thought would be an even finish, apply well to begin the process of maturation (properly seasoned cast iron pans only get better over the years). When the Dutch oven arrived, I was surprised by what appeared to be a discoloration in the finish of the inner surface of the cover plate. I used the Dutch oven for the first time to make chili. We bought this to cook steak without a grill (500F in the oven for half an hour to preheat the pan on the stove, then the largest fire, then a minute on each side (oil, meat, not the pan, we use the egg timer) and then again in the oven for 3-5 minutes until it is done your way). Like others, I suggest you fry some bacon fat or meat first, because while the pan is seasoned, the surface is not smooth and may benefit from some frying bacon a lot. (Review More...)

This is the nicest Dutch oven, and so functional. My children are all grown up and that's just me and grumpy, I mean hubby now:) and I always need a big pot. I absolutely love this small Dutch oven. It works when almost nothing for 2-3 people or side elements as cobbler and cornbread for more people. The stainless steel is pretty thin, but adequate. The "copper" plating on the bottom of the pan is a good touch, although, as will be the included cover. The set was a bit scratched in shipment, but it's serviceable. The size of each pans would serve 3 people without considerably problem, but capacity is limited. I particularly like the dual use of the frying pan as a cover ... clever! Personally, I don't feel 1 could uncover a much more compact, three piece set. Emerilware 12-Piece Cookware Set

My pans arrived and had been nice. All but the large pot. It was not even an Emerilware. It was stainless steel but had various markings, no Emeril logo, different rivets, and style. I don't remember the seller here on Amazon but they returned my cash and paid for shipping with no hassle. I genuinely lost my trust and realized you truly have to pay attention to what you buy on Amazon simply because you by no means know if the product that you are finding is legit. Great news is that I've never ever had difficulties with Amazon and I'm confident if the seller would not have returned my funds that Amazon would have stepped in. Right after this buy I began doing much more analysis and realized that despite the fact that the Emerilware is All-Clad it really is not created in America like All-Clad. I ended up acquiring All-Clad simply because I wanted and American created product. Note that All-Clad does not make their lids in America. I am loving my All-Clad that I now have. (More Detail...)
